TSJE and ANR Respond to Request for Voting Machine Audit; Congress Begins Review of Diplomas

ANR proxy Eduardo González responded to Senator Lilian Samaniego that the audit of voting machines has already been carried out at the TSJE for all parties. Meanwhile, the National Congress, under the leadership of Basilio Núñez, begins an internal audit of university diplomas of employees, an initiative of Senator Eduardo Nakayama.

The proxy of the National Republican Association (ANR), Eduardo González, responded to the request of Senator Lilian Samaniego for an audit of the voting machines. González stated that the procedure has already been completed at the headquarters of the Superior Electoral Court (TSJE) for all parties and political movements, according to the electoral schedule.

“ANR technicians accompanied the audit that took place at the TSJE, for all parties and movements as established by this schedule. No one requested a report, but I recall that the Party was invited several times to discuss electoral matters and did not attend,” declared González. He categorically rejected any possibility of postponing the internal party elections, scheduled for June 7.

In parallel, the Legislative Power began an administrative cleanup process. The President of the National Congress, Basilio Núñez, supported the proposal of Senator Eduardo Nakayama to carry out an internal audit to verify the validity of university diplomas of Legislative employees. The measure aims to detect irregular documents that generate undue salary bonuses.

The Human Talent Directorate will coordinate the verification, cross-referencing information with the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC), the National Council of Higher Education (Cones), and universities. In case of irregularities, the Presidency of Congress will open administrative proceedings and forward the cases to the ordinary courts.

“We need to give a real testimony of integrity from Congress itself,” said Núñez on his social media. The Board of Directors and the plenary will study the technical mechanisms in the coming days to formally begin the inspections.
