The National Institute of Statistics (INE) presented updated results on access and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Paraguay, based on the 2025 Continuous Permanent Household Survey (EPHC). The survey reveals that 85.4% of the population aged 10 or older used the internet in the analyzed period, consolidating a trend of expanding digital connectivity.
The segment with the highest adoption is young people aged 25 to 29, with 97.1%, followed by the group aged 30 to 34 (96.0%) and adolescents aged 15 to 19 (92.5%). Among children aged 10 to 14, the rate drops to 55.9%. Women lead in tool usage compared to men, indicating a slight female advantage.
Despite the growth, the INE confirms the persistence of a marked structural digital divide. In urban areas, internet use reaches 88.2%, while in rural areas coverage is significantly lower. By department, Asunción leads with 90.9%, followed by Central (89.8%) and Alto Paraná (89.2%). The lowest rates are in San Pedro and Caazapá.
The institution clarified that sample weighting factors were adjusted according to new population projections. The figures do not include populations from the departments of Boquerón and Alto Paraguay, nor indigenous communities or people in collective dwellings. The data were released in the context of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, celebrated on May 17.
