Expo eCommerce 2026 Aims to Accelerate Digitalization of MSMEs in Paraguay

Paraguay's Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) has launched the fourth edition of Expo eCommerce, to be held on May 21, 2026, focusing on reducing the digital gap among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). National Director of Entrepreneurship Romina Da Re highlighted that only 15% of MSMEs have their own e-commerce platform, despite the sector representing 70% of employment and 24% of the country's commercial activity. The event, organized by the Paraguayan Chamber of Electronic Commerce with support from the Vice Ministry of MSMEs, will offer training in digital sales, payment methods, artificial intelligence, and financial inclusion.

Paraguay's Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) officially launched the fourth edition of Expo eCommerce, scheduled for May 21, 2026, with the goal of accelerating the digitalization of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The sector, which concentrates about 70% of formal employment in the country, still faces a significant digital gap, according to National Director of Entrepreneurship Romina Da Re.

In statements to the program Tribuna de Paraguay TV, Da Re stated that MSMEs currently represent 24% of national commercial movement, but only 15% of them have their own e-commerce platform. "There is an immense opportunity, since eight out of ten Paraguayans make online purchases and more than 50% prefer local brands," she highlighted.

The event is organized by the Paraguayan Chamber of Electronic Commerce, with support from the Vice Ministry of MSMEs of the MIC. The program will include training focused on digital sales, payment methods, artificial intelligence applied to marketing, and financial inclusion. The initiative seeks to strengthen the digital tools of small businesses, allowing them to expand markets, improve sales channels, and increase competitiveness in a context of technological transformation.

Expo eCommerce 2026 will bring together entrepreneurs, technology companies, and digital sector specialists, at a time when e-commerce continues to expand as one of the main growth levers for Paraguayan MSMEs.
