Paraguay Soybean Exports Surge 37% by April, Driven by Record Harvest

Paraguay's soybean exports rose 37% year-on-year to 3.94 million tons by April 2026, according to Capeco. Total complex revenues reached $1.93 billion, with Argentina as the top destination. The boom is attributed to strong global demand for plant proteins and biofuels.

Paraguay’s soybean sector continues to reap the benefits of the 2025/2026 agricultural campaign, with exports of raw soybeans reaching 3,935,833 tons by the end of April—a 37% increase (1,069,923 tons) compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Foreign Trade Report of the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Marketers of Cereals and Oilseeds (Capeco), as reported by 1000 Noticias.

The larger harvest has also boosted domestic processing, leading to sustained shipments of soy derivatives such as oil and meal. Capeco foreign trade advisor Sonia Tomassone attributed the growth to high global demand for plant-based proteins used in animal feed, combined with the rising popularity of biofuels.

Total revenues from the soybean complex reached $1.929 billion through April, up from $1.394 billion in the same period last year, providing a significant boost to the national economy. Argentina absorbed 83% of exports, followed by Brazil (10%), with the remaining 7% going to Saudi Arabia, the United States, Uruguay, and Chile.

Leading exporters include Cargill (20% market share), Bunge (19%), ADM and Copagra (9% each), Cofco (8%), Francisco Vierci (6%), Agrofértil (5%), LDC (4%), Cooperativa Colonias Unidas (3%), and C. Vale (2%). In overland shipments, C. Vale leads with 17%, followed by LAR (15%), Agrofértil (11%), Cargill (9%), and Somax (8%). A total of 40 companies participated in soybean exports for the 2025/2026 harvest through April.
