An accusation was filed and the opening of an oral and public trial was requested against attorney Egidia Victoria Gómez Denis, former prosecutor of Penal Unit No. 3 of the Zonal Prosecutor's Office of Villa Elisa. She is investigated for aggravated passive bribery and obstruction of criminal prosecution, both as the perpetrator.
According to the investigation, between May and December 2021, Gómez Denis allegedly set up a scheme to favor Walter José Galindo Domínguez, prosecuted in case No. 1062/2021 for drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, and receiving stolen goods, after being arrested with 1 kilogram and 300 grams of cocaine.
The accusation maintains that the former prosecutor abandoned the principle of objectivity in exchange for large sums of money, carrying out maneuvers to obstruct the criminal investigation. Suspicions intensified after analysis of court-authorized telephone intercepts. The audios reveal that the then-agent kept key evidence under her control in her office and allegedly delayed sending these elements to official deposits due to supposed delays in promised payments by the defendant's defense.
One of the central facts occurred on July 1, 2021, when the prosecutor signed Resolution No. 58 ordering the release of a Ford Ranger pickup truck, license plate WBZT 585, seized during a search and seizure warrant. The Public Ministry alleges that the release was made without forensic examination or verification, using a power of attorney with supposedly forged signatures.
Intercepted phone conversations show Galindo stating that the prosecutor “would stall the process” to prevent other institutions from detecting irregularities related to seized assets. On June 30, 2021, a communication involves an intermediary who, supposedly from the agent's office, informed the defendant about efforts to favor him judicially.
The Specialized Unit for Economic and Anti-Corruption Crimes considers the investigative phase closed and states there are sufficient elements regarding the accused's participation. The request was presented to criminal guarantees judge Humberto Otazú, asking for the admission of the accusation, validation of documentary and telephone evidence, and referral of the case to an oral and public trial.
