On May 17, World Telecommunications and Information Society Day, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported that 85.4% of the Paraguayan population aged 10 or older used the internet in 2025. The data, drawn from the 2025 Continuous Household Survey (EPHC), shows that women lead access at 86.8%, compared to 83.9% for men.
In urban areas, the rate reached 88.2%, while in rural areas it stood at 77.8%, highlighting the persistent digital divide. The date, established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), aims to promote equitable access to technologies and reduce the digital gap between countries and population sectors.
The INE emphasized that the figures do not include the departments of Boquerón and Alto Paraguay, indigenous communities, and collective households, which may underestimate access in more isolated regions. The continuous household survey serves as the basis for these official statistics.
