In the early hours of Sunday (May 17), 56 women deprived of liberty were transferred from the Regional Penitentiary of Misiones, in San Juan Bautista, to the Prison Complex for Women Deprived of Liberty in Emboscada. The action, called Operation Threshold 2.5, began around 3 a.m. and involved a strong security scheme from the National Police and the Armed Forces.
The detainees were transported in two buses escorted by military personnel under the command of Major Javier Constantini. At the same time, three male inmates also left the Misiones unit: two were taken to the Regional Penitentiary of Coronel Oviedo and one to the National Penitentiary of TacumbĂș, in a vehicle of the prison system.
In total, 59 people deprived of liberty were transferred from Misiones as part of the operation, which is part of the government's efforts to reorganize the prison system and reduce overcrowding in regional units.
