The second edition of the Palmear Sin Fronteras Fair will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Palma Street in Asunción. The event, which celebrates cultural diversity and the contribution of immigrant communities in Paraguay, will feature the participation of 16 foreign communities residing in the country.
Among the confirmed countries are Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Korea, Lebanon, Taiwan, Italy, Belgium, Croatia, France, Russia, and Turkey. Each community will present typical dishes and artistic expressions: Bolivia will bring salteñas; Brazil, feijoada, coxinha, and brigadeiros, along with music; Colombia, arepas, bandeja paisa, and cumbia; Mexico, tacos and quesadillas; Paraguay, asado, vori vori, and sopa paraguaya, with traditional dances and a performance by the Popular Orchestra of the National Police; Peru, ceviche and anticuchos; Uruguay, chivitos, choripanes, and candombe; Korea, typical foods and K-pop dance; Lebanon, sfiha, kibbe, hummus, and tabbouleh; Taiwan, Eastern cuisine and Lion Dance; Italy, pizzas, sweets, and mulled wine; Belgium, waffles and folk dances; Croatia, cultural displays; France, crepes and sweets; Russia, typical dishes and sweets; and Turkey, institutional representation with cultural proposals.
The fair is organized by the Office of the First Lady, the National Directorate of Migration, and the Association of the Movida of the Historic Center of Asunción (AMCHA), with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Secretariat of Culture, the National Secretariat of Tourism, the National Directorate of Intellectual Property, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police, the Municipality of Asunción, and the Association of the Consular Corps of Paraguay. The event takes place on the eve of National Immigrant Week, established by Law 2749/2005, celebrated in the first week of June.
