State Attorney General Emiliano Rolón removed Deputy Attorney María Soledad Machuca from the Specialized Unit for Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption and the Money Laundering Unit, following questions about alleged shelving of emblematic cases. Nancy Salomón takes over the position.

State Attorney General Emiliano Rolón decided to remove Deputy Attorney María Soledad Machuca from the leadership of the Specialized Unit for Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption and the Specialized Money Laundering Unit. The measure was announced on Monday (18) and comes amid criticism against Machuca, who had been questioned over the alleged shelving of high-profile cases.

Replacing Machuca is Attorney Nancy Graciela Salomón Marín, who already worked at the Public Prosecutor's Office. The change was communicated by journalist Liz Analía Acosta. Machuca will be transferred to the units for Criminal Enforcement, Human Rights, Indigenous Peoples, and Environmental Crimes.

Rolón's decision aims to reorganize the institution's teams and strengthen action against corruption and money laundering, sensitive areas for the credibility of the Paraguayan justice system.
