In the early hours of this Sunday, 56 women deprived of liberty were transferred from the Regional Penitentiary of Misiones to the Emboscada Penitentiary Complex as part of the security operation called "Umbral." The action, which began around 3 a.m., was coordinated by the director of the Police of Prevention and Security of Misiones, General Inspector Commissioner Mirtha Beatriz Ramos, with support from two platoons of the Agrupación Especializada, anti-riot personnel, and security technicians.
The inmates were transported in two buses from the company Río Paraguay, escorted by personnel from the Armed Forces under the command of Major DEM Javier Constantini. In addition to the 56 women, two people were sent to the Regional Penitentiary of Coronel Oviedo and one to the National Penitentiary of Tacumbú, in penitentiary vehicles.
According to the authorities, the procedure was completed around 4 a.m., with no incidents reported. The Emboscada Penitentiary Complex is the main women's prison in Paraguay.
