A Brazilian man was arrested with cocaine and assaulted an officer at a police station in Paraguay

A Brazilian man was arrested with cocaine in La Paloma, Paraguay, and assaulted a police officer inside a police station.

A Brazilian citizen was detained during a police stop in La Paloma, in the department of Canindeyú, and went on to assault a police officer inside the station, according to preliminary information.

According to available data, the foreigner was intercepted by National Police officers during a routine check in the district. During the procedure, officers reportedly found a substance believed to be cocaine among his belongings, which led to his arrest and transfer to the police station for the corresponding proceedings.

Once inside the station, the man allegedly reacted violently against one of the uniformed officers, in an episode captured on video by bystanders. Footage shows moments of struggle and tension as officers attempted to bring the situation under control. Police said the detainee was visibly agitated and was eventually subdued by those intervening.

The case may also lead to an investigation into alleged resistance to or assault on authority, in addition to charges related to the suspected possession of narcotics. However, the outcome of the forensic examinations and the Public Prosecutor's Office's proceedings will determine the legal status of the individual involved.

La Paloma, located in Canindeyú, is a region where control operations and procedures linked to the fight against drug trafficking are frequently carried out, due to its proximity to the Brazilian border. Various interventions in recent years have led to the seizure of drug shipments and the detention of individuals connected to illegal activities in the area.

So far, the National Police have not officially disclosed the identity of the detainee or the exact quantity of the seized substance. The investigation is ongoing.
