ANDE has put into practice Operativo Canindeyú 1, a concentrated action in Saltos del Guairá, Katueté, La Paloma, and Nueva Esperanza, in the department of Canindeyú. The objective is to dismantle schemes of electrical losses and recover a million-dollar overdue portfolio.
More than 50 state employees, distributed in 14 technical teams — including own staff and contracted companies — carry out mass inspections, remove direct connections, and suspend service for customers with outstanding debts. ANDE's commercial manager, Hugo Rolón, detailed that the debt management goal for this operation is G. 1 billion, to be obtained through regularizations, collections, and payment agreements.
ANDE warns that clandestine connections and tampering with meters are no longer considered minor administrative infractions, but serious crimes. Law No. 7300/24, recently enacted, provides for penalties of up to 10 years in prison for those who steal energy or collaborate in setting up irregular networks. The institution recommends that citizens regularize their situation at regional agencies before facing judicial interventions.
