Paraguay Electoral Court Begins Judicial Audit of Documents for Party Primaries

The Superior Electoral Court of Paraguay (TSJE) started the judicial audit process of electoral materials on Monday, aiming at the simultaneous internal elections of political parties scheduled for June 7. The oversight responds to requests from the National Republican Association (ANR) and the Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA) and will run until May 29.

The Superior Electoral Court of Paraguay (TSJE) announced that on Monday it began the judicial audit process of electoral documents, in line with the calendar set for the upcoming internal party elections. The task is under the responsibility of the Judicial Secretariat of the Electoral Court, in response to requests from political organizations, including the National Republican Association (ANR) and the Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA). The work will extend until May 29 of this year.

During the audit, the integrity of the electoral bags was verified; these contain materials, utensils, and documents prepared by the Directorates of Electoral Resources and Electoral Logistics. The inspection took place in the presence of representatives from the internal movements of the political organizations, as well as members of the ANR's Party Electoral Court (TEP) and the PLRA's Independent Electoral Court (TEI). The TSJE's judicial secretary, Lourdes Rojas, conducted the drawing of the bags submitted to the audit.

Authorities explained that a rigorous internal control process of 100% of the electoral bags had previously been carried out by staff of the Human Resources Directorate. Credentials and USB drives are tested, and voting simulations are conducted with ballots and tally sheets to confirm that the content matches the previously made selection.

The simultaneous internal elections of political organizations are scheduled for Sunday, June 7, while municipal elections are set for Sunday, October 4, 2026.
