Conmebol announced that Asunción will host, this week, three matches of Bolivian clubs valid for the continental competitions. The measure was taken due to the serious social conflict affecting Bolivia, with road blockades that make the logistics necessary for holding the games in Bolivian territory unfeasible.
In the Copa Libertadores, Always Ready faces Mirasol on Tuesday, May 19, at 9:00 p.m. (local time). In the Copa Sudamericana, Independiente Petrolero faces Botafogo on Wednesday, the 20th, at the same time. The last commitment will be on Thursday, the 21st, when Blooming hosts Carabobo at 9:30 p.m.
The specific venues in Asunción are yet to be confirmed. Conmebol's decision prioritizes the safety and operability of the matches, given the blockades concentrated mainly in the regions of La Paz and El Alto, which prevent travel to airports and hotels.
Paraguay, which had already served as an alternative venue on other occasions, once again hosts an intense round of international football, while the Bolivian crisis persists.
