The Municipality of Asunción has launched the "World Cup Discount" campaign, a special promotion offering exemptions, discounts, and payment facilities for taxpayers who settle their debts with the municipality by June 30. The initiative, announced by Mayor Luis Bello, capitalizes on the excitement generated by the Paraguayan National Team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The municipal resolution provides for a 100% waiver of fines, financial charges, default interest, punitive interest, and other surcharges related to taxes, fees, canon payments, special contributions, and tariffs for lump-sum payments. The benefit also covers overdue and upcoming installments of payment plans, including those for the current fiscal year.
Taxpayers who hold debts exclusively from the 2026 fiscal year may access a 10% discount on the lump-sum payment of taxes and special fees. For those who choose to pay in installments, the municipal administration eliminates all surcharges entirely, requires a 20% down payment on the debt amount, and allows the balance to be paid in up to six interest-free installments. The promotion also covers usufruct debts and municipal cemetery cleaning fees, as well as the waiver of misdemeanor fines for late submission of financial statements and permits for public events.
As an additional incentive, the capital's municipal government will hold a daily raffle of official Paraguayan National Team jerseys among those who make their payments during the campaign's validity period. Interested taxpayers can make payments at the central headquarters of the Municipality of Asunción or at authorized collection centers. For inquiries, the Revenue Department has made the Call Center available at numbers 627 3010, 0994 151172, and 0983 894572.
