Funeral home targeted by gunfire in downtown Pedro Juan Caballero; owner suspects commercial rivalry

In the early hours of Saturday, a man on a motorcycle fired several shots at the facade of the Pax Conesul Funeral Home in downtown Pedro Juan Caballero. No one was injured. The owner, Lucía Morel Alves, who lives in the same building, told police the attack may be linked to a dispute with another funeral business.

A shooting attack hit the facade of the Pax Conesul Funeral Home, located at the corner of Aquidabán and Rubio Ñu streets in downtown Pedro Juan Caballero. The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. on Friday (16), when a man on a motorcycle approached the establishment, fired multiple shots, and fled. Despite the violence, no one was injured.

The owner, Lucía Morel Alves, who lives in the same building, heard the shots and went out to check the damage. She told police she suspects the attack was a warning related to a commercial rivalry with another funeral company in the region. The information has not been independently corroborated.

Forensic experts from the Criminalistics unit were at the scene and collected at least 13 spent 9mm caliber casings, in addition to recording impact marks on the main door. The National Police continue investigating to identify the perpetrator and clarify the circumstances of the crime.
