Paraguayan athletics shone again on the international stage with the performance of 23-year-old Lars Anthony Flaming, a native of the Chaco region, who won the silver medal in the javelin throw at the Continental Tour Halle 2026, held in Germany. Flaming recorded a mark of 81.19 meters, enough to secure second place on the podium.

Gold went to Qatari Hussein Ahmed Sameh, who reached 83.10 meters, while Briton Ben East completed the podium with 80.05 meters.

Flaming's performance was particularly significant, as it reached 99.54% of his absolute record of 81.56 meters, set at the 2025 Asunción Junior Pan American Games. Additionally, it was his first international podium on European soil during his current preparation phase in Germany.

With another throw above 80 meters in an official World Athletics competition, the Paraguayan reaffirms his consistency and strengthens his aspirations for qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
