Caprolab, the entity that brings together biochemists in Paraguay, has issued a warning to the public about the dangers of performing rapid tests with portable equipment without the oversight of qualified professionals. The organization's president, Dr. Gustavo Chamorro, and Dr. Carmen Troche emphasized that this practice may violate the law regulating the practice of biochemistry in the country.
In an official statement, the experts called on authorities to take action to curb the unregulated use of these devices. They also advised citizens to seek only authorized laboratories, where tests are conducted with proper technical support and professional supervision.
The central concern is that results obtained without validation can lead to incorrect diagnoses and inappropriate treatments, putting patients' health at risk. Caprolab stressed that the safety of laboratory tests depends on the work of trained biochemists, as provided for in Paraguayan legislation.
