Pickup driver turns himself in after running over and killing motorcyclist in J. Augusto Saldívar

José Luis Noguera Moreno, 25, turned himself in to police hours after running over and killing Aldo Vega Ramírez, 42, in the Três de Fevereiro neighborhood of J. Augusto Saldívar. A breathalyzer test was positive.

The driver of a pickup truck who ran over and killed a motorcyclist on the morning of Saturday in the Três de Fevereiro neighborhood of J. Augusto Saldívar turned himself in to police hours after the accident. José Luis Noguera Moreno, 25, was given a breathalyzer test at the Patrulha Caminheira base, which was positive, according to sources from the 20th Police Precinct of the Central Department.

The victim was identified as Aldo Vega Ramírez, 42, who was heading to work on a blue Taiga motorcycle, license plate 698 BYO. Witnesses reported that Vega was traveling along 3 de Fevereiro Street when he was hit head-on by the pickup truck, which was coming from the opposite direction.

Officers from the 20th Precinct who responded to the incident said that apparently the pickup driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, crossed into the opposite lane, and dragged the motorcycle and its rider for about a hundred meters. Vega died instantly, lying on the asphalt next to the motorcycle. The driver fled the scene but turned himself in at the police station hours later.
