Asunción's massive celebrations for the 215th anniversary of national independence drew large crowds to the city's microcenter, prompting a comprehensive cleanup operation by the Urban Services Directorate. The effort, planned days in advance, aimed to maintain optimal conditions throughout the festivities and restore cleanliness afterward.
The operation unfolded in three stages: preparatory work before the events, ongoing maintenance during the peak of celebrations, and a deep-cleaning phase that began early Friday, May 15. Crews focused on emblematic locations such as the Costanera de Asunción and the central plaza complex, which includes Plaza de los Héroes, Plaza Independencia, Plaza Democracia, and Plaza Libertad. Cleanup also extended to areas in front of the National Congress and the El Cabildo Cultural Center, covering sidewalks and roadways across the official activities' radius.
With the conclusion of the patriotic festivities coinciding with Mother's Day, the Urban Services Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the city clean after major events.
