A 31-year-old woman, identified as Liz Maria Dolores Figueredo Santacruz, reported being the victim of an aggravated robbery on the morning of Monday, May 18, in the rural area of Concepción. The crime occurred around 6:40 a.m., when she was transporting her minor daughter in a white Kia Soluto car on a dirt road leading to the locality of Panchito López, about 11 km from the city center.
According to the report filed at the 1st Police Station in the Itacurubí neighborhood, two men on a black Trail motorcycle intercepted the vehicle. One of them, armed with a nickel-plated revolver, broke the driver's side window and forced the woman to stop. The criminals then forced her into the back seat, while one of them took the wheel and drove to the locality of Cándido Silva.
At the scene, the assailants took a green backpack containing Gs. 107,850,000 in cash, as well as three checks worth Gs. 22,932,000, Gs. 15,795,000, and Gs. 22,200,000. They also stole a black Samsung A07 cell phone. According to the victim, the money belonged to Distribuidora San Jorge, owned by her partner, Jorge Raul Arévalos, and came from sales at the store located in downtown Concepción.
After completing the robbery, the criminals got out of the car and entered a gray pickup truck that was waiting nearby, fleeing toward the city of Belén. The National Police was called and is investigating the case to identify those responsible.
