Temporary Traffic Detours on Silvio Pettirossi Avenue for Viaduct Construction

The Paraguayan Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced temporary traffic detours on Silvio Pettirossi Avenue from May 16 to 26, 2026, as part of the Corredor Vial Las Residentas project. The detours affect the stretch between Elizardo Aquino and Ñu Guasu avenues due to the construction of foundation heads for a future viaduct aimed at reducing congestion on a key access route to Asunción.

Asunción, Paraguay — The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced temporary traffic detours on Silvio Pettirossi Avenue from May 16 to 26, 2026, according to a report by Ultima Hora. The measure is part of the ongoing Corredor Vial Las Residentas project, which aims to improve traffic flow on one of the most critical access routes to the metropolitan area and the capital.

The detours will affect the section between Elizardo Aquino and Ñu Guasu avenues, where crews are constructing the foundation heads for a future viaduct. MOPC officials stated that this infrastructure is key to relieving vehicular congestion and reducing travel times in the area.

To minimize disruption, vehicles entering the capital will be diverted to lateral lanes, allowing them to bypass the active construction zone before rejoining the main roadway. Traffic will be channeled through a designated lane immediately adjacent to the work area, separated from machinery and personnel for safety.
