The National Police arrested on Monday Jorge Daniel Samudio (25), nicknamed 'Freddie Mercury', as well as Marcelo Fabián Martínez Espinoza (20) and José Luis Cubilla (63), a retired non-commissioned officer of the Armed Forces. They are the main suspects in the robbery of two service stations in the city of Limpio, Central Department.
The arrests occurred during a police tracking operation following the robberies, which are believed to have been committed by the same gang. Security camera footage and police reports indicate that the men arrived in a white pickup truck, driven by the retired non-commissioned officer, and then carried out the robberies.
Armed, the suspects subdued the employees and took approximately G. 668,000 from one station and G. 200,000 from the other, according to the police report. In addition to the arrests, police seized the vehicle used in the crimes, an Israeli-made pistol, and 28 rounds of ammunition.
Samudio had a prior record for similar crimes. The case has been forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office, and all detainees remain at the disposal of the courts.
