Woman detained in Ypané after assaulting family and attempting to set house on fire

A 42-year-old woman was arrested in Ypané, Central Department, after assaulting her husband and two daughters and attempting to set the residence on fire. She was intoxicated and threatened suicide. Police referred her to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

A 42-year-old woman was detained by the National Police on the afternoon of Friday, May 16, in the Paso de Oro neighborhood of Ypané, Central Department, after assaulting her partner and two minor daughters and attempting to set the house where the family lives on fire. The suspect also stated that she would later take her own life.

The breathalyzer test administered at the scene indicated 0.629 mg/L of alcohol in the blood, a value above the legal limit. The woman was taken to the police station and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The partner reported that it was not the first time she had acted violently toward the family.

The incident was recorded as domestic violence and attempted arson. Police did not report whether the victims suffered serious injuries.
