Two Youths Detained in Luque with Replica Weapon and Undocumented Motorcycle

Agents of the Lince Group arrested two youths in Luque on Saturday night after a stop in which they found a high-fidelity replica firearm and a motorcycle without documentation. Police are investigating a possible connection to robberies in the Maka’i region.

Agents of the Lince Group detained two youths on Saturday night (18) during preventive patrols on Tomás Ozuna and Coronel Martínez streets in Luque. The stop occurred around 11 p.m. and resulted in the seizure of a motorcycle for violation of the National Traffic Law, as the driver did not have a driver's license.

Those detained were identified as Blas Alcides Martínez Britos, 23, and Víctor Ariel Samaniego Coronel, 21. Deputy Chief of the 3rd Central Police Station, Gustavo Paiva, reported that agents observed the motorcycle occupants acting suspiciously and proceeded to check them.

During the search, they found with one of them a replica firearm that, according to Paiva, had a “quite convincing” appearance. “It would be 80% or 90% similarity to a real weapon,” he stated, highlighting that the object even had a recoil system and features similar to a real pistol.

The seized motorcycle is a red 2024 Motostar SK125. The commissioner indicated that the intervention occurred in the Maka’i area, considered conflict-ridden due to repeated reports of robberies and thefts of belongings. According to him, the characteristics of those detained and the use of the replica raise suspicions of a possible link to recent crimes in the area. Paiva mentioned cases of assaults committed by criminals wearing clothing similar to that of delivery workers, but clarified that there are still no conclusive elements to attribute direct involvement.

Neither youth has a criminal record. Both were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The duty prosecutor, Liz Medina, ordered the seizure of the replica and determined that those detained remain at the police station while investigations proceed. After the procedure, they were taken to the General Hospital of Luque for a protocol medical examination, in compliance with torture prevention norms.
