The weekend was marked by two violent robberies in the Department of Alto Paraná, one in Juan León Mallorquín and another in Ciudad del Este. The incidents, recorded between Saturday night (16) and early Sunday morning (17), mobilized local police.
The first crime occurred around 9:58 p.m. on Saturday at the Motel Love, located in the San Francisco neighborhood of Juan León Mallorquín. Marlene Frutis Ramos, 33, the person in charge of the establishment, was approached by two men who arrived on a motorcycle. The suspects entered as customers, asked for drinks, and when the employee went to the room, they intimidated her with a firearm, taking about G. 400,000 in cash from the proceeds. The establishment's security cameras recorded the criminals fleeing on the same vehicle.
Around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, five armed men invaded a house in the San Rafael neighborhood, sector II, near Cancha Chiro, in Ciudad del Este. The victim, Daysi Lorena Garcete Núñez, 22, was sleeping with her partner and minor daughter when the criminals forced the door, apparently after climbing the wall. The assailants took cell phones, including an iPhone 11 Pro, a tablet, a gold-plated chain, a 43-inch television, a slot machine with coins, and cash.
After the robbery, the victim identified one of the suspects as Denis Osmar Blanco Melgarejo, a neighbor of the area with a criminal record, seen nearby shortly after the crime. At the scene, police seized nine 9mm cartridges.
