Drunk Man Detained After Vandalizing Fire Station in Capiatá

A man identified as Juan Arzamendia, reportedly intoxicated, was arrested early Friday after breaking into the 8th Company of the Volunteer Fire Corps in Capiatá, causing damage to the station and a volunteer's vehicle. He claimed to be a military member and said he would cover the costs.

A man in an apparent state of intoxication was detained early Friday morning after causing significant damage at the 8th Company of the Volunteer Fire Corps (CBVP) in Capiatá, according to reports from C9N and 1000 Noticias.

The suspect, identified as Juan Arzamendia, allegedly broke the glass entrance door of the station around 5:30 a.m. and then damaged the windshield of a vehicle belonging to a volunteer, both outlets reported. Security cameras captured the incident, C9N noted.

Arzamendia, estimated to be between 21 and 23 years old, entered the radio room where firefighters were resting on guard duty. He stated he needed help, then lay down on the floor and fell asleep, vomiting, likely due to his intoxicated state, according to 1000 Noticias.

The man claimed to be a member of the military, though this has not been independently verified. After his arrest, he said he would take responsibility for the damages to the station and the vehicle, 1000 Noticias reported. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
