In a thrilling Ligue 1 season finale, Racing Strasbourg pulled off a spectacular comeback against Monaco this Sunday at the Stade de la Meinau. The Alsatian side trailed 4-1 but counted on a masterful performance from Paraguayan Julio Enciso to win 5-4.
Monaco opened the scoring with Lamine Camara, and Ansu Fati extended the lead. An own goal by Ismael Doukouré made the Principality side even more comfortable. However, Enciso sparked the comeback by setting up Martial Godo for the first consolation goal. With the score at 4-1, the Paraguayan provided an assist for Diego Moreira to score the second goal. Then, with a header, he set up Sebastian Nanasi to equalize at 4-4. The comeback was completed by Martial Godo in the 81st minute, sealing the score at 5-4.
The player, who came through the youth ranks at Libertad, ended his first season in France with 42 matches, 12 goals, and 9 assists. In Ligue 1, he had 3 goals and 6 assists in 27 games; in the Conference League, 3 goals and 3 assists in 10 matches; and in the Coupe de France, 6 goals in 5 games. Strasbourg finished in eighth place with 53 points, outside European competition.
Now, Enciso joins the Paraguayan national team, led by Gustavo Alfaro, for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, where he is expected to be the team's main offensive reference.
