The Argentine vocal and instrumental ensemble Tinku Marka, with over two decades of experience in fusing Latin American rhythms, has expressed a desire to return to Paraguayan stages. After being honored as the 'Revelation of the Night' at the Festival of the Paraguay River in Concepción in 2025, the group seeks to consolidate its bond with the local audience through a tour that is expected to reach major venues in Asunción, Encarnación, and Ciudad del Este.
Founded in 2005 on the basis of Andean folklore, Tinku Marka has artistically evolved to incorporate genres such as Chilean cueca, Argentine chacarera, and Paraguayan polkas and galopas. The federal essence of the group is reflected in the origins of its members, who come from the provinces of Misiones, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, and Corrientes. The name 'Tinku Marka' comes from Quechua and means 'Meeting of peoples' or 'People of the meeting,' a concept that defines its collective identity.
The group's musical proposal intertwines the aridity of Andean textures with the sound of the American coast. According to spokespersons Hugo Lavooy and Lucas Guanuco, the intention is to demonstrate that traditions are not static, but living elements capable of adopting the power of a stadium band without losing the acoustic roots of the quena or the charango. This cultural mix also extends to the costumes, which incorporate fabrics made in collaboration with Paraguayan artisans, valuing local textile work.
Over 21 years of career, the group — also comprising Abel Kottwitz, Gonzalo Quinteros, Alejandro De Olivera, Mario Arrúa, Ezequiel González, and José Luis Castillo — has accumulated distinctions in Argentine competitions such as Pre Cosquín de Oberá and the National Festival of Litoral Music. It has also shared the stage with artists such as León Gieco, Soledad Pastorutti, Abel Pintos, and Grupo Generación de Villarrica.
