The Paraguayan theatrical production El mejor contando vacas has been selected for the official program of the FIMITEBAQ 2026 International Theater Festival, to be held in Barranquilla, Colombia. The play, performed by actors Hugo Núñez and Héctor Silva, will have its first international presentation at the event, which brings together established and emerging creators from Latin America.
On the local scene, the play had already stood out by being chosen to open the 2024 edition of TIAtro Mbyky, one of Paraguay's main platforms for promoting short theater. Since then, the production — praised for its discursive agility and efficient use of stage space — has had seasons in Asunción, earning good critical reception.
To make participation in the festival feasible, the production team is mobilizing a fundraising campaign targeting the public and private sectors, aiming to cover the costs of airfare. Although FIMITEBAQ provides accommodation and meals for international casts, funding for transnational travel is not included in the event's structure.
