The Chaco Sentencing Court will open the oral trial against Boquerón sentencing judge Amado Yuruhan on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:45 a.m. Yuruhan is accused of sexually harassing a cleaner at the Filadelfia Courthouse. The case, which occurred in October 2022, will be judged by magistrates Carlos Lezcano, Myrian Núñez, and Shirley Romero.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office investigation, led by prosecutor Andrés Arriola, the victim worked as a cleaner at the courthouse when, on October 17, 2022, Yuruhan invited her to a meeting, which she refused. Subsequently, the magistrate allegedly called the woman to the bathroom, where he forcibly kissed her. The complaint was formalized on October 19, 2022, when the victim sought out the president of the Boquerón district, Emigdio Castillo, who reported the fact to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Arriola's formal accusation occurred in October 2024, and the case only now goes to trial, nearly two years later. The victim reported that Yuruhan persistently asked about her personal life and that, on the day of the assault, she went to the bathroom believing she would receive a cleaning task, but was surprised by the judge, who allegedly held her by the head and began kissing her.
The trial takes place amid other controversies involving Yuruhan, who has reportedly filed a complaint against Minister César Garay with the Prosecutor's Office. The Chaco Sentencing Court will decide on the magistrate's guilt, who remains free pending trial.
