Desirée Grillón: Balancing Wedding Planning and Motherhood with Unconditional Love

Paraguayan wedding planner Desirée Grillón, a pioneer in event organization, reflects on balancing her demanding career with raising three sons, emphasizing that her children remain her top priority despite her busy schedule.

Desirée Grillón, a renowned Paraguayan wedding planner and pioneer in the event industry, has built a career around organizing high-profile weddings and celebrations. Yet, as she tells Última Hora, her greatest role is that of a mother to her three sons: Christian (41), who runs the frozen pizza company ElGrillo; Ignacio (27), a car dealership manager; and Oliver (38), who handles administrative duties in her own firm.

Grillón acknowledges that juggling the time-intensive event business with motherhood was never easy. “I always tried to give them quality time,” she said. “I have been and am unconditional for them.” She credits her children for their understanding, noting that they never held her absences against her. “They know that their mother, from day one, is unconditional for them and that, despite not always being there, they remain my priority in life,” she stated in a previous interview with the outlet.

For Grillón, motherhood defies simple description. “Being a mother is an absolute surrender, an experience a woman can have thanks to her children,” she said. She also emphasized the values she has passed on: a deep love for God, respect for others, personal responsibility, and the importance of working with honesty and passion. These principles, she believes, enable her sons to “take their own flight in life.”

Born in Paraguay, Desirée Marie Grillón de Lane is married to Horacio Lane. Her career began at the Complejo Mediterráneo event venue after returning from 15 years abroad. She initially organized quinceañeras there before clients began requesting her services for other celebrations, leading her to become independent around the year 2000.
