Volunteer firefighters and the Asunción city government inspected fire hydrants at Mercado 4 and confirmed the water system is operational. However, the administration acknowledged that the fire-fighting infrastructure of the new building, funded by Itaipu, is unfinished and that the market suffers from decades of neglect.
