Former Colorado Senator Erico Galeano Segovia spent Tuesday night at the National Police Judicial Department in Asunción after the revocation of alternative measures that had benefited him. He was convicted of money laundering and criminal association in the context of Operation "A Ultranza."

Before being taken to the police station, Galeano was brought to the Barrio Obrero Hospital for a routine physical examination. Commissioner Ramón Cañete, head of the police unit, explained that his arrival occurred at a time when transfers to penitentiary centers are no longer carried out, which is why the former senator slept on site, without special privileges, alongside other detainees.

On Wednesday morning, police are expected to submit a written request to the administration of Penal Institutes for authorization to enter a prison. According to Cañete, a response usually arrives the same day or, at most, the following morning. The judicial order does not specify a prison unit, such as the National Center for Detainees (formerly Tacumbú), but merely orders transfer to any suitable facility within Paraguayan territory.
