An incident of violence marked a youth football match between clubs 8 de Diciembre and Cerro Porteño de Caaguazú, in Paraguay, resulting in the detention of a player suspected of assaulting the referee during the game.
According to preliminary reports, the player reacted violently to a situation in the match and struck the main referee. After the assault, the young man quickly left the field.
The referee suffered a fracture to one of the bones in his face and required medical attention.
