A grim discovery was made in Cambyretá, Itapúa, on Saturday afternoon when a vehicle was found completely engulfed in flames on a neighborhood road. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, a charred body was found inside the vehicle's interior.
The incident occurred around 6:00 PM in the Barrero Guazú neighborhood, approximately 200 meters from Alejandro Pereira street. Local Volunteer Firefighters, led by volunteer Jorge Salas, responded to the scene. Once the fire was controlled and the vehicle cooled, the extent of the tragedy became apparent.
The vehicle has been identified as a pearl-colored, 2006 Toyota Auris with license plate NBK 124. According to the Single Vehicle Registry (RUA), the car is registered to Diego Manuel Brítez Báez. However, sources suggest the vehicle was sold without a formal transfer of ownership, indicating Brítez Báez may not be the victim.
Initial investigations reveal the car had no prior reports of theft or previous complaints, and the registered owner has no criminal record. The case has been handed over to the District Attorney's office, with Prosecutor Giovanna Vera overseeing the investigation. Personnel from the National Police's Criminalistics Department and a forensic doctor have been called to the scene to assist in collecting evidence and determining whether the incident was a tragic mechanical accident or a criminal act.
