On the afternoon of May 18, around 5 p.m., a large fire hit a commercial establishment inside Limpio Market, in the Central Department. The fire was quickly controlled by volunteer firefighter teams, and there were no casualties, only significant material damage.
The establishment, owned by Jonathan David Franco Núñez, 29, a resident of the San Pedro neighborhood in Limpio, sold clothing, footwear, and other products. The merchandise was partially or totally destroyed by the flames.
The National Police was called through the 911 emergency system. Officers from the 9th Central Police Station, under the command of Inspector Julio Ayala, quickly arrived at the scene and requested support from the Limpio Yellow Volunteer Fire Department, which was reinforced by the Blue Volunteer Firefighters. Together, they managed to extinguish the fire.
Commissioner María Insfrán, head of the 9th Central Police Station, confirmed that there are no injuries and that the causes of the fire are still unknown. Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the origin of the fire.
