Since the early hours of the morning, students, teachers, and directors from approximately 30 educational institutions took part in the student parade commemorating the 85th anniversary of Isla Pucú's district status. Students from the Caacupé Police School “Sgto. Aydte. José Merlo Saravia” had a special participation, parading impeccably in formal attire, demonstrating discipline, enthusiasm, and respect for the commemorative date.
The flag bearers proudly carried the national banner, a symbol of identity and unity, while the chiroleras contributed elegance, charm, and coordination to the route. One of the most applauded moments was the participation of kindergarten and preschool students, who surprised the audience with colorful traditional Paraguayan costumes, stirring emotion among those present.
Despite the threat of rain in the early hours, the turnout was massive, demonstrating the community's strong sense of belonging. Mayor Stacy López (PLRA) expressed her gratitude to the educational institutions, authorities, and citizens who took part in the festivities, highlighting the active participation of the community and the commitment of the students in each presentation. She emphasized that Isla Pucú continues to consolidate itself as a growing city within the department of Cordillera, with a hardworking, supportive population proud of its roots.
According to historical records, the current Isla Pucú was formerly a company of Caraguatay, known at the time as “Ka’aguy Juru” or “Ka’aguy Rokẽ,” because it represented the only entrance to an extensive forest that existed in the area. On May 17, 1941, the community obtained its district independence, marking the beginning of its own institutional path. Since then, Isla Pucú has experienced sustained growth that currently positions it as one of the most active and attractive localities in Cordillera.
Agriculture and commerce are activities that sustain the dynamism of the local economy and the development of numerous families. Within the framework of the festivities, the citizenry demonstrated unity and pride for their land, on a day where history, culture, and identity came together to celebrate a new district anniversary.
