Paraguay's 'Jagua Patriota' Pet Parade Marks 10th Edition at Heroes' Pantheon

The tenth edition of the 'Jagua Patriota' pet parade drew large crowds to Asunción's historic center, featuring dogs and other pets dressed in patriotic colors to celebrate Paraguay's 215th Independence Day.

Asunción's historic center was filled with color and joy as the tenth edition of the 'Jagua Patriota' pet parade took place in front of the Panteón Nacional de los Héroes, part of celebrations for Paraguay's 215th Independence Day, according to El Nacional.

The event, which has become a staple of the patriotic festivities, attracted a large crowd of families, tourists, and animal lovers to the capital's microcenter. Dogs of all sizes and breeds, along with other domestic animals, paraded wearing red, white, and blue accessories—moños, scarves, and collars—in a display that combined patriotism, entertainment, and affection for animals.

During the parade, several owners shared emotional stories of rescue and adoption, highlighting pets that had been recovered from abandonment or mistreatment. The atmosphere was further enlivened by music, photography, and visitors taking part in other cultural activities in the historic area.

The 'Jagua Patriota' has grown over the years into one of the most striking and well-attended events of Asunción's Independence Day celebrations.
