Lara Tomassi, known for her work in communication, fashion, and high couture, has stepped into one of her most transformative roles yet: motherhood. In an interview with El Nacional, the actress and communicator shared the profound changes she has experienced since giving birth to twins Alejo and Alonso.
Tomassi admitted that this new stage has revealed a version of herself she never knew existed. “I discovered that ability to handle several things simultaneously. Before, I thought you had to finish one thing before starting another, and now I realize that life happens between many roles at the same time,” she said.
One of the most challenging moments came early on, when her sons were born prematurely and had to remain hospitalized. “The most challenging moment was when we had to leave the sanatorium and leave our babies hospitalized. That back-and-forth three times a day, combined with breastfeeding and all the hormonal issues, was probably the biggest challenge we have faced so far,” she recalled.
The experience also reshaped her relationship with work and time. Known for being highly organized and demanding of herself professionally, Tomassi said motherhood forced her to rethink priorities. “I was always very organized and structured, but now I realize that there are things beyond my control, and that doesn’t mean they are wrong,” she noted.
She also addressed the pressure many women feel to quickly return to their pre-motherhood routines, whether in work, social life, or physical appearance. “We operate a lot on emotions in certain periods, and you can’t plan so much. We have to learn to allow ourselves to live each stage as it comes,” she affirmed.
Though she never imagined herself as a mother—let alone of twins—Tomassi said she now lives this stage with love, joy, and passion, learning to be more flexible. When asked to define herself as a mother, she demurred: “I couldn’t define myself as a mom. I would prefer that one day my children define me.”
Looking ahead, she hopes her sons will understand one simple but essential truth: “I do the best I can every day, and the fuel for all of this is the immense and incalculable love I have for them,” she concluded.
