Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Giménez received a World Bank delegation on Tuesday to discuss the Agricultural Market Integration Project (PIMA), financed by the bank with approximately $100 million. The meeting took place in Asunción and included ministry technicians and project staff.

During the meeting, the priorities of the Paraguayan government and their compatibility with PIMA's objectives were addressed. The project aims to improve market access for organized rural producers and indigenous communities. PIMA has already implemented investments including the delivery of tractors, agricultural implements, storage centers, and support for rural organizations in several departments.

In San Pedro, PIMA generated economic and social impact by strengthening family production, creating local jobs, and improving living conditions in areas where agriculture is the main source of livelihood. In the district of Yrybucuá, the Joaju and San Isidro del Norte committees received irrigation systems, shade screens, water tanks, coolers, agricultural lime, cargo trucks, and forage seeds.

The ministry reported that it will continue to provide ongoing technical assistance and monitoring to beneficiary organizations to ensure efficient use of resources and measure the impact of investments. The central objective is to consolidate sustainable processes, strengthen the internal management of committees, and promote their formalization.
