MAG schedules eight Family Farming fairs in Asunción and other cities this week

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has scheduled eight family farming fairs between this Monday and Saturday in Asunción, San Lorenzo, Itauguá, Caacupé, and Concepción to encourage the direct sale of products without intermediaries.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has scheduled eight Family Farming fairs between Monday, May 25, and Saturday, May 30, in Asunción, San Lorenzo, Itauguá, Caacupé, and Concepción. The initiative reaches around 1,560 families grouped into 80 production associations from the departments of Concepción, Central, Cordillera, and Bajo Chaco.

The fairs are organized by the MAG's Marketing and Agrarian Extension Directorates with the aim of encouraging direct sales of items from family farms, eliminating intermediaries and ensuring affordable prices for consumers and better income for producers.

From Monday to Friday, the permanent orchid fair operates at the Exhibition and Sales Center located at km 11 of Route PY02, across from the National University of Asunción (UNA) in San Lorenzo, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Caacupé Orchid Production Center, at km 52 of the same highway, also remains open, with service Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The permanent organic produce fairs continue at km 11 and km 25 of Route PY02, in San Lorenzo and Itauguá, respectively, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 27, the "DeRaíz" fair is scheduled at Shopping Multiplaza in Asunción, where producers will offer fresh foods and handicrafts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The public will find Paraguay cheese, pork, suckling pig, goat, sheep, free-range chicken, duck, farm-fresh eggs, as well as sweet corn, corn flour, beans, bee honey, peanuts, garlic, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cassava, sweet potatoes, seasonal fruits, plants, flowers, and indigenous handicrafts.

On Thursday, May 28, the Departmental Fair takes place in Concepción, at Agustín Fernando de Pinedo Square, offering various cuts of beef at special prices. On the same day, the "PlazaFlores" fair takes place at Shopping Multiplaza in Asunción.

The week's final activity will be on Saturday, May 30, at the 24 de Octubre Cooperative, located at the corner of 14 de Mayo and 23 Proyectadas streets, in the Tacumbú neighborhood of Asunción.
