The candidate for mayor of Ayolas for the National Republican Association (ANR - Partido Colorado), José Mutti, confirmed that he is holding talks with the ruling party faction to achieve party unity, but reaffirmed that he will request an audit of the municipal administration from the Comptroller General of the Republic as soon as he takes office.
In Asunción, the Colorado Party candidate Camilo Pérez and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Latorre, met with former president Mario Abdo Benítez, leader of the Colorado Añetete movement, formalizing the so-called "republican embrace" for the October 4 municipal elections.
The meeting, shared by Latorre on social media, was attended by Añetete deputies such as Mauricio Espínola and Daniel Centurión, as well as presidential pre-candidate Arnoldo Wiens. Centurión highlighted the "political maturity" demonstrated by Abdo Benítez in receiving the delegation.
However, Senator Yamil Esgaib strongly criticized Mario Abdo's support, labeling him a "traitor" and stating that his figure could cost votes for the campaign in Asunción. Esgaib went so far as to declare that Abdo Benítez "should be in prison" if the justice system functioned properly.
The support of Colorado Añetete for Camilo Pérez's candidacy had been formally announced the day after the June 7 internal party elections, but this was the first time Mario Abdo Benítez appeared publicly with the ruling party candidate since then.
