A 45-year-old man was fatally shot outside a bar in the Horqueta district of Concepción Department on Thursday, according to a report by El Nacional.
The victim, identified as Orlando Villa, was standing near a bar on Route PY05 General Bernardino Caballero at kilometer 163 in the community of Capitán Giménez when two unknown assailants on a motorcycle approached. One of the attackers dismounted and fired multiple shots at Villa, who died at the scene before medical help could arrive.
Police officers and forensic personnel responded to collect evidence, and the Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine a motive, El Nacional reported.
The attack occurred on a strategic northern route connecting Concepción and Pedro Juan Caballero, a corridor frequently used for commercial and transport traffic. The Concepción Department has a history of contract killings and armed attacks in recent years, particularly near Horqueta, with similar incidents previously reported along the same highway.
No arrests have been made as of the latest reports. Investigators are reviewing security camera footage from the area and collecting witness testimony.
