A multidisciplinary team at Hospital General de Villa Elisa performed a high-complexity surgery last Saturday to treat a severe case of uterine fibroids. During the procedure, doctors removed a fibroid (benign uterine tumor) weighing 3,830 grams — nearly four kilograms.
The patient, a 42-year-old woman living in the Villa Bonita neighborhood of the same city, had the condition characterized by the development of these tumors in the uterine muscle tissue. According to the hospital, she progressed well in the immediate postoperative period and has already been discharged to continue recovery at home.
The surgical team consisted of specialists in gynecology, general surgery, anesthesiology, and surgical instrumentation. The professionals worked in a coordinated manner, following strict medical protocols to minimize risks associated with the large volume of the fibroid, ensuring the patient's safety throughout the intervention.
The management of Hospital General de Villa Elisa used the case to remind the population of the importance of regular preventive check-ups in the presence of any abnormal gynecological symptoms.
