Merchant Shows Cash on TikTok Live, Targeted in Robbery Attempt in Presidente Franco

A 35-year-old merchant was the target of a robbery attempt at her bookstore in Presidente Franco after showing money during a TikTok live stream. Two hooded men, believed to be followers of the victim, arrived armed and demanded the cash, but left empty-handed.

A 35-year-old merchant, identified as Juana de Jesús Algarín Sotelo, was the victim of a robbery attempt last Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. at her bookstore Las Mellizas, located on km 9 Monday in Presidente Franco, Alto Paraná department.

According to the police report, the victim was broadcasting live on TikTok when one of her supposed followers sent a message saying he wanted to meet her and would visit. About ten minutes later, two hooded men arrived in a black Hyundai HB20, got out armed, and demanded she hand over the money she had shown during the live stream.

The merchant refused to hand over the cash, and the criminals fled the scene without taking anything of value. Officers from the National Police Investigations Department are analyzing security camera footage to identify the suspects.
