An intoxicated Army non-commissioned officer lost control of his car on PY 01 route, formerly Acesso Sul, and invaded the opposite lane, colliding with a grain truck transporting soybeans towards Ñemby. The accident occurred in the early hours of this Monday, near a multinational soft drink factory.
According to aide officer Víctor López, the driver of the white Kia was allegedly touched by another vehicle, losing control. The truck was unable to brake in time, resulting in the collision. Fortunately, both drivers emerged unharmed. The military officer underwent a breathalyzer test, which indicated 0.780 mg/L of alcohol in the blood.
In parallel, the president of the Social Security Institute (IPS), Isaías Fretes, presented at a press conference at the Caja Central the results of the vademecum review. Fretes had anticipated that about a thousand items were purchased without justification, expiring unused. The elimination of these products aims to clean up the Health Fund's finances and redirect resources to effectively necessary purchases.
President Santiago Peña reiterated his support for Fretes, stating that he will keep him in office until August 15, 2028, with the goal of promoting a significant transformation in social security. Peña highlighted that alternatives to increase IPS revenue include reducing evasion and improving spending efficiency.
