A 35-year-old Brazilian man, domiciled in Cascavel (Brazil), was the victim of a millionaire robbery on Sunday night (17) in the San Rafael neighborhood of Ciudad del Este. According to the complaint filed at the Subcomisaría 1st of the neighborhood, the man had arranged a date through the Grindr dating app while shopping at a mall in the city center.

The stranger who contacted him picked up the victim on a motorcycle and took him to a remote area of the San Rafael neighborhood. At the location, seven other hooded and armed criminals were waiting. They stole a white iPhone 17 Pro Max and, under threat, forced the Brazilian to make electronic transfers via Pix, the Brazilian instant payment system, in the amount of 45,000 reais (about 50 million guaranis, according to the current exchange rate). After the crime, the assailants fled through an alley toward the banks of the Paraná River.

In a separate case, the Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating a robbery with hostage-taking that occurred in the same region. Prosecutor Hernán Mendoza reported that the criminals stole 28 million guaranis in cash and carried out transfers totaling 29 million guaranis, with one of the receiving accounts receiving 10 million guaranis. Authorities have not confirmed whether the two crimes are related.
