MAG warns rural producers about frost risk and recommends preventive measures

Paraguay's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock issued an agrometeorological alert due to the forecast of a sharp drop in temperatures, recommending protection of crops and animals with covers, nighttime irrigation, and controlled use of smoke.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) issued an agrometeorological alert due to the risk of frost in several regions of the country, as a result of the sharp decline in temperatures forecast for the coming days.

The ministry advised producers in the agricultural and livestock sectors to adopt preventive measures to minimize potential impacts on production.

Among the recommendations, MAG suggests protecting crops with covers such as plastic, straw, or branches, as well as irrigating during the night or at dawn to conserve soil heat. It also advises the use of controlled smoke as a resource to reduce temperature loss in the fields.

The ministry emphasizes the importance of doubling precautions in the face of low temperatures in order to safeguard both agricultural and livestock production.
