Asunción’s Costanera will host a public viewing of the 2026 nearly total lunar eclipse on Thursday night, Aug. 27. The activity will be free and run from 10:30 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, near the #YoAmoAsu letters.
Organized by the Museo de Ciencias (MuCi), a Paraguayan science-outreach institution, the gathering will allow attendees to follow the phenomenon through telescopes provided by the museum. At the moment when the Moon is most covered by Earth’s shadow, it is expected to take on the reddish color characteristic of lunar eclipses.
There will be no admission charge, but places are limited and require advance reservation. Those interested should request tickets through the official MuCi website.
The program is being held at the Costanera for the second consecutive year and was presented as an opportunity for families, students, enthusiasts and curious observers to watch the sky in a public area along the Paraguay River. Bolt is taking part as a strategic partner in the initiative.
The eclipse will be followed throughout the evening and early morning, with the possibility of detailed observation through MuCi’s optical equipment. The institution recommends that the public make a reservation before heading to the site because of the participant limit.
